TaxPro HQ mentees, having a business page is only step one. Now we need to make sure when a potential client lands on that page, it looks like a real, active, trustworthy tax business, especially if you operate virtually. Before you start worrying about going viral, get the basics RIGHT.

Your business page should have:

✅ Business phone number
✅ Professional business email
✅ Website, secure intake link, or booking link
✅ Hours of operation
✅ Service area and a clear statement that you serve clients virtually
✅ Call to action such as Book, Get Started, Contact Us, or Schedule
✅ At least 3 to 5 quality posts so your page doesn’t look abandoned

Post educational content. Explain tax topics. Share your process. Show your knowledge without giving individual tax advice online.
HOW can someone verify your business?
Make sure your business information is consistent across Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile, your website and other directories you use.

TODAY’S TAXPRO HQ ACTION ITEM

Audit your business page like you’re a stranger who found you online.
Ask yourself:
Can I tell what this company does within 10 seconds? Can I see how to contact them?
Do they look active?
Would I trust them with my tax information?
Fix what’s missing, then start posting with PURPOSE.
Visibility gets them to the page.
Credibility gives them a reason to stay.

BUSINESS TIP: PICK YOUR TAX NICHE

Trying to market to everybody can make it harder for anybody to recognize that you’re the tax professional for them. You can prepare different types of returns and still have a specific audience you focus your marketing on.

Think about who you actually want more of:

• Small business owners
• Self employed professionals
• Truck drivers
• Beauty professionals
• Real estate professionals
• Families with dependents
• First time filers
• Content creators and gig workers

Your niche helps you get specific with your content, messaging, services, and marketing. And choosing a niche does NOT mean you have to turn everybody else away. It simply means you’re becoming known for solving a particular problem for a particular group of people.

TODAY’S ACTION STEP

Complete this statement:
“I help [WHO] with [TAX PROBLEM] so they can [RESULT].”

Example: “I help self employed beauty professionals organize their business finances, understand their deductions, and confidently prepare for tax season.”

👇🏾 Drop YOUR niche statement in the comments. Don’t just tell me “I do taxes.” I want to know WHO you serve and WHAT you want to become known for.

THIS WEEK’S ASSIGNMENT: GET OUT & NETWORK

Besties, we are in AUGUST. This is the time to start making connections, NOT January when everybody suddenly remembers they need clients.

Your assignment this week: Connect with 5 local businesses.Look for businesses whose customers or employees could potentially need a tax professional:

💈 Barbershops
💇🏾‍♀️ Hair & nail salons
🍽️ Restaurants
🚛 Trucking companies & owner operators
🏡 Realtors
🧹 Cleaning companies
👶🏾 Daycares
🏠 Property management companies

You can walk in OR connect through social media.Keep your introduction simple:

“Hi, my name is ________. I’m a local tax professional building relationships with businesses in my community. I provide tax preparation and year round support for individuals and small business owners. I’d love to leave my information with you and learn more about your business as well.”

DO NOT walk in there trying to sell somebody. Your first goal is to make the CONNECTION. Bring your business cards, flyers, QR code, website, booking link, and social media information.

And Besties, THINK BIGGER THAN ONE TAX RETURN. A barber has clients. A hairstylist has clients. A realtor has clients. A trucking company has drivers. A daycare has parents and employees.

You aren’t just meeting ONE potential client. You’re building relationships with people who already have relationships with the people you want to reach.

Your TaxPro HQ challenge:Connect with 5 businesses this week and come back to the community with an update.

Who did you connect with?
How did you approach them?
What happened?
We have MONTHS to build our visibility before filing season. Use them.

TaxPro HQ can give you the software, systems, training, and support, but YOU still have to build your business. 💚
